Ali Smith is a writer and award-winning portrait and documentary photographer. She began her career in New York’s underground music scene as a member of the band Speedball Baby. She has since worked with celebrities and politicians, shot magazine covers for G2, New York Family, and Get Out!. She has published two books: Laws on the Bandit Queens and Momma Love, which was a New York Times Top Pick. She teaches, lectures, and exhibits extensively, and has worked with The International Center of Photography, Milk Gallery, NYU, Alfred University, and Girls for Gender Equity, founded by Tarana Burke. She is based out of New York City and the UK, and is currently working on a memoir about her days with Speedball Baby.
