Andrew Root is an award-winning picture book author from rainy Portland, Oregon. He writes books about hamsters, unicorns, dinosaurs — really whatever pops into his head on a given day. His books include Hamsters Don’t Fight Fires! (Harper Collins), Nerdycorn (Simon & Schuster), and Stemosaurus (Two Lions). With a background in counseling and extensive experience in school leadership, Andrew also works extensively within the community mental health and public education systems. When not writing, Andrew enjoys running absurd distances and playing soccer with his wife, two children, and dog.
