Leah Redmond Chang

Leah Redmond Chang is a former Associate Professor of French and Director of the French Literature Program at George Washington University, and was most recently a Senior Research Associate at University College London. She is the author of two previous books: Into Print: The Production of Female Authorship in Early Modern France and Portraits of the Queen Mother: Polemics, Panegyrics, Letters, winner of the Josephine Roberts Award from the International Society for the Study of Early Modern Women. Her latest book, Young Queens, about the intertwined stories of four Renaissance-era queens (Catherine de’ Medici, Elizabeth Tudor, Mary Stuart, and Elisabeth de Valois), was published by FSG and Bloomsbury UK, and has been translated into five foreign languages. It was longlisted for the inaugural 2024 Women’s Prize for Nonfiction and was a finalist for the 2023 Los Angeles Times Book Prize for Biography. She lives with her husband and three children in Washington, DC and London.
