John Marsden was the author of more than 40 books for young readers, including Tomorrow When the War Began, the first in a series with seven books and three tie-in novels, which was adapted into a feature film in 2010. His novels have sold over five million copies worldwide and he was honored with every major award in Australia for children’s fiction. His passion for education led him to found two schools in Australia, Candleback and Alice Miller, which place emphasis on the creative arts, enroll almost 400 students and inspired The Art of Growing Up, a nonfiction book about education and parenting.
John passed away in December 2024 at the age of 74.
