Ruth Whiting is an artist and maker with a diverse body of work, including illustration, large-scale sculptural installations, and classic oil paintings. Her debut trilogy of picture books about a character named Lonely Bird has been acquired by Candlewick. The first title, Lonely Bird, was a Junior Library Guild selection and was released in October 2023. The next book, Lonely Bird’s Dream, will be released in October 2024. She has exhibited in Europe, Australia and America. Born in England to Australian parents, Ruth now lives in Florida with her husband, the artist and kite designer Tim Elverston, and their son. As a child, Ruth wanted nothing more than to read books. Her love of stories fuels her work as an illustrator and author.
