Suzanne Paola

Suzanne Paola is an award-winning poet, memoirist, and author of nonfiction. As Susanne Paola Antonetta, she is the author of Body Toxic: An Environmental Memoir, A Mind Apart: Travels in a Neurodiverse World, and Make Me a Mother: A Memoir. Her next project, The Devil’s Castle: Nazi Eugenics, Euthanasia, and How Psychiatry’s Troubled History Reverberates Today, will be published by Counterpoint in 2025. With Brenda Miller, she is the author of Tell It Slant: Creating, Refining, and Publishing Creative Nonfiction. Among the awards her work has won are a New York Times Notable Book distinction, an American Book Award, a Library Journal Best Science Book of the Year Award, and a Pushcart Prize. Her essays and poetry have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Orion, and Seneca Review. She lives in Bellingham, Washington with her husband and son.
