Neal Porter at Neal Porter Books has bought a new nonfiction picture book by Deborah Noyes, illustrated by Jessica Lanan. We Are the Trees is slated for publication in spring 2027.
Noyes’ latest work —the graphic novel An Outbreak of Witchcraft, illustrated by Duffy — was published by LB Ink in 2024. Her previous nonfiction titles for young readers include Ten Days a Madwoman: The Daring Life and Turbulent Times of the Original “Girl” Reporter, Nellie Bly (shortlisted for the New York Historical Society Children’s History Prize), The Magician and the Spirits: Harry Houdini and the Curious Pastime of Communicating with the Dead, Tooth & Claw: The Dinosaur Wars, A Hopeful Heart: Louisa May Alcott Before Little Women, and Lady Icarus: Balloonomania and the Brief, Bold Life of Sophie Blanchard.
